WITHIN THE “STRENGTHENING RESILIENCE OF THE AGRICULTURE SECTOR PROJECT” FRAMEWORK, ACCESS TO WATER RESOURCES IS BEING IMPROVED

The State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” takes necessary measures to improve irrigation of agricultural lands in the context of the “Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project”.

It should be noted that the project planned to drill four wells for irrigation of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan scientific institutions lands, which has now been completed and commissioned.

The institution, together with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agency for Land Reclamation and Irrigation under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, has begun drilling wells to provide vulnerable farms in the country with irrigation water.

This week, regional specialists of the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” in Sughd Region held a public hearing on the drilling of irrigation wells as part of the project in the Shahristan district Ravshanbek farm. The company employees, directly involved in the well drilling, participated in the hearings.

The institution specialists were present at the start of well drilling at the Ravshanbek farm and provided recommendations, considering the nuances and timely and high-quality completion of the planned work.

Besides, at the start of drilling, the detailed information was provided on the progress of the environmental management plan implementation, considering stakeholder opinions and suggestions, the results of the environmental impact assessment according to the World Bank social and environmental standards, compliance with sanitary and hygienic regulations, safety regulations, the Republic of Tajikistan current legislation requirements and Grievance redress mechanism.

Furthermore, to provide vulnerable farms in the country with water for irrigation, the project is currently drilling another series of wells, and it is expected to be implemented in stages throughout the country this year.
