SUGHD REGION FARMERS ARE MAKING EVERY EFFORTS FOR COTTON HARVESTING

Farmers across the country are currently taking advantage of favorable autumn weather and are making every effort for cotton harvesting on time.

It’s worth noting that this year, with the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan support, the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development”, within the scope of the “Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project”, provided farmers (project beneficiaries) with certified high-quality seed varieties during the cotton sowing season.

Farmers are satisfied with this ongoing support from the institution and, thanks to their diligent work and proper agricultural practices, are successfully growing cotton and significantly increasing its yield.

The institution regional specialists are currently visiting dehkan and seed farms in the B. Gafurov, Asht, Spitamen and J. Rasulov districts and Kanibadam town, where the cotton harvest is underway, and are holding discussions with farm managers and farmers.

Farmers note that the seeds provided by the institution offer numerous advantages over local ones, are adapted to climate change and produce high yields.

Currently, a collective cotton harvest is underway in the region, and farmers get 17-18 centners of cotton per hectare per picking, which is a good sign showing they are moving toward achieving their long-term goal. They are determined to harvest the crop on time and without losses before the frost onset, and to fulfill the target plan completely.
