COTTON HARVESTING IN KHATLON REGION IS GOING ON

This year, with the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan support, the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” within the framework of the “Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project” during the sowing campaign provided farmers of the Khatlon region (project beneficiaries) with high-quality certified cotton seeds of the elite group: Jongmyan-113, Laser and Ramses.

The farmers, expressing gratitude for the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” ongoing support, sowed cotton on an area of 3,590 hectares within the established time frame.The varieties received were imported from abroad, are high-yielding, adapted to climatic conditions and their changes and are intended for seed-growing farms.

Currently, collective cotton harvesting continues in the Khatlon region towns and districts, and farmers, obeying agricultural cultivation techniques, were able to increase cotton yields and get a good yield – 13-18 c/ha in the first cotton harvest.

The project beneficiaries are trying to effectively use favorable weather to collectively and on-time harvest the yield in the fields without losses and increase it to 50-55 c/ha.
