MONITORING THE PROGRESS OF FIELD WORKS IN SUGHD REGION

On May 21 this year, specialists of the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” within the framework of the “Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project” familiarized themselves with seasonal works of farmers (project beneficiaries) in Sughd region.

Field works in the region towns and districts continue with enthusiasm: farmers are collectively engaged in inter-row cultivation of cotton, loosening and weeding of various crops, irrigation and fertilizer application, as well as harvesting of potatoes.

It should be noted that this year, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” within the framework of the “Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project” provided a number of seed-growing, farming and other farms with more than 8 varieties of high-quality certified seeds, zoned to climatic conditions, such as wheat, potatoes, cotton, onions, peas, corn, flax and beets.

Farmers (project beneficiaries) were able to sow these crops on time and ensure good growth by following proper agronomic practices.

It should be noted that potato harvesting has started in B. Gafurov district and the harvest is very high. At present, all crops are growing well in the field, inter-row cultivation, fertilization, irrigation and protective measures (pest control) continue.

Farmers are determined to harvest a good crop this year, as they did last year, to supply markets inside and outside the country and get good income by selling the agricultural products.

In the atmosphere of peace and stability, the honest work of every farmer with good intentions to ensure food security of the country is a source of pride, honor and praise.
