Analysis and development of the draft Law of the Republic of Tajikistan on Seed Production

The State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development ” within the framework of the Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project jointly with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on May 2 this year held a training seminar in the hall of the hotel “Hilton” on “Analysis and development of the draft Law of the Republic of Tajikistan on Seed Production”.

Scientists and specialists of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan and its sub-structures in the field of seed production, as well as representatives of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan, Shohtemur Agrarian University, Food and Agriculture Organization and other relevant structures, including representatives of the authorities participated and made presentations at this workshop.

The Law of the Republic of Tajikistan on Seed Production consists of 8 chapters and 36 articles. It establishes the legal basis for activities related to production, multiplication, processing, certification, sale of seeds, seedlings and plants, as well as organization, registration of varieties and their control.

The purpose of this event was for scientists and specialists in the field of seed production to analyze this law, express their opinions and propose recommendations for the continuous development of the seed production sector in the country, taking into account climate change and other pressing issues facing the sector today.

After collecting the opinions of scientists and specialists in the field, this law will be sent to the National Council of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan for making additions and amendments.
