Quality seeds – guarantee of high yields

The State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” within the framework of the Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project for the development of the sector, successfully cooperates with dekhkan and seed farms, as well as with other agricultural organizations and institutions.

Farmers in Khatlon province, who are beneficiaries of the project, received from the institution three types of elite group wheat seeds of varieties “Grom”, “Alikseich” and “Temiryazevka-150” among other high-quality crop seeds. Last fall farmers planted these seeds on an area exceeding 1,128 hectares.

Thanks to spring rains, the sown seeds are actively germinating, and some farmers have been clearing the wheat fields of weeds.

Farmers have been applying the first top dressing (mineral phosphorus fertilizer) to the sown area, mostly before or during sowing, at a rate of 150-170 kg/ha. Currently, farmers are applying the second top dressing, which is 200-220 kg of nitrogen fertilizer per hectare.

During the monitoring it was noted that the condition of wheat germination in seed farms looks very favorable. Farmers were recommended to provide sowing areas with irrigation water in due time and apply herbicides “Grand Stop” and “Topik” for more effective destruction of weeds.
