MONITORING THE FIELD WORKS PROGRESS IN KHATLON REGION

This week, specialists of the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” familiarized themselves with the farmers (project beneficiaries) seasonal work in Khatlon region.

The field work in the region towns and districts continues enthusiastically: farmers are collectively engaged in harvesting onions, inter-row cotton cultivation, irrigating corn, weeding and perching various crops, as well as watering and fertilizing.

It should be noted that this year, with the support of the Republic of Tajikistan Government, the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” under the “Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project“ provided more than eight types of certified high-quality seeds of climate-adapted crops such as wheat, potatoes, cotton, onions, peas, maize, flax and beet to vulnerable and farming households, production cooperatives and other farms.

The farmers (project beneficiaries) were able to sow these crops on time and ensure good growth by following proper agronomic practices. Within the framework of the “Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project”, the Institution specialists visited J. Balkhi, Dusti, Jaihun and Shahritus districts, “Sadriddin”, “Kholmatov”, “Obshoron”, “Navoi”, “Maxim Gorky” and other jamoats, crops have given good growth; inter-row cultivation, fertilization, irrigation and protective measures (pest control) continue with enthusiasm and all farmers are busy working.

They have already started harvesting crops, especially wheat, vegetables, legumes and fruits, supplying agricultural products to the domestic market as well as seeking to export them.

In addition, the AED PMU specialists gave useful advices on timely and safe harvesting of these crops and sowing the other ones in their fields.
