PUBLIC HEARINGS BEFORE STARTING AN AGROLOGISTICS CENTER CONSTRUCTION IN THE J. BALKHI DISTRICT

The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan annually pays great attention to the sustainable development of the country various sectors and constantly takes necessary measures to implement the plans.

On June 3 this year, engineers and specialists on social and environmental issues from the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” within the framework of the “Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project” held public hearings with participation of officials from the Executive Body of the J. Balkhi district State Authority, residents of neighborhoods adjacent to the construction site, as well as “Stroy-Center” construction company employees involved in the agrologistic center construction.

During the meeting, Deputy Chairman of J. Balkhi district Kurbonzoda Kurbonali and the SI AED specialist on social issues Rano Rakhmatova spoke about the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan constant support in development of the agricultural sector and providing the population with permanent jobs; the participants spoke about the benefits of agrologistic centers for population and project implementation, considering the work features for timely and quality completion of this facility.

Afterwards, the “Stroy-Center” Construction Company engineers made informative presentations and presented their work plans to implement the agrologistic center construction to the audience.

Besides, at the initial stage of mobilization, the works on implementation of environmental management plan will be done considering the stakeholders’ opinions, proposals and results of the environmental impact assessment according to the World Bank requirements of social and environmental standards; the detailed information was provided on compliance with sanitary and hygienic rules, safety measures, fulfillment of requirements and norms of the Republic of Tajikistan current legislation, mechanism to consider applications and appeals, as well as implementation of other applicable laws.

At the end of the public hearings, the responsible persons were given specific instructions and tasks for timely implementation of upcoming plans.

In the afternoon, the SI AED engineers and specialists on social and environmental issues visited the site of this facility.
