PROGRESS OF FIELD WORK IN KHATLON REGION

This week, the specialists from the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” familiarized themselves with the progress of the seasonal work by the farmers (project beneficiaries) in Khatlon oblast.

In the oblast towns and districts, fieldwork continues enthusiastically: farmers are collectively engaged in harvesting onions, inter-row cultivation of cotton, loosening and weeding various crops, as well as watering and fertilizing.

It should be noted that this year as well, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” within the framework of the “Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project” provided a number of seed-growing, vulnerable and farming enterprises, production cooperatives and other farms with more than 8 types of high-quality certified climate-zoned seeds, such as wheat, potatoes, cotton, onions, peas, corn, flax and beets.

The farmers (project beneficiaries) were able to organize sowing of these crops in a timely manner and ensure their good growth by following proper agronomic standards.

Currently, good growth of all crops is observed in the fields, inter-row cultivation, fertilizing, watering and protective measures (pest control) are ongoing. Some farmers have already started harvesting vegetables, legumes and fruits, preparing to supply them to the domestic market and for export.
