Outcomes of the World Bank Mission Visit to Sughd region

On the third day of the working visit, the World Bank Mission went to the seed-growing farm of Gaffor Alimatov.

This seed-growing farm has 85 hectares of arable land and is engaged in cultivation of various crops. This farm successfully works in the area of seed production, having received a series of high-quality seeds with a certificate of Elite category group from the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” within the framework of the “Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector” project.

The World Bank Mission familiarised and highly appreciated the effective work of Gaffor Alimatov’s seed-growing farm.

Then, the Mission held a working meeting with the Mayor of Istaravshan town Atam Mamurzoda in the hall of the Executive Body of the town State Authority.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of repair and reconstruction of agricultural facilities, provision of project beneficiaries with high-quality certified seeds, strengthening of material and technical base of vulnerable and seed-growing farms, involvement of unused lands into agricultural turnover, construction of wells for irrigation of agricultural lands.

A meeting with the heads of vulnerable farms of Istaravshan town was held in the administration hall as well.

At the meeting, farm managers reported on the progress of field work and achievements, as well as made a lot of suggestions on further increasing crop yields, improving the situation with land reclamation, timely harvesting, packaging and export-orientation of agricultural products.

In the end, the project beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” and the World Bank Mission for their continued support to farmers.
