Visit of the World Bank Mission to Khatlon Region
The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan pays great attention to the sustainable development of various sectors of the country, especially the agricultural sector, and constantly takes necessary measures to realize one of the national goals – “Ensuring Food Security”.
Within the framework of the “Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector project”, according to the World Bank Mission Plan, from 28.04 to 08.05.2025, meetings will be held with ministries and agencies, executive bodies of state power, beneficiaries and officials implementing the project in order to support the project implementation process.
On May 1 of the current year, the World Bank Mission team made a working visit to the towns and districts of Khatlon region.
During the working visit, a working meeting was held with the First Deputy Chairman of the region, Mr. Muzaffar Mirzozoda and the Chairman of Dusti district, Mr. Davron Nishonzoda.
During the meeting, Muzaffar Mirzozoda, Deputy Chairman of the region, expressed his views on repair and reconstruction of agricultural facilities, provision of the project beneficiaries with mineral fertilizers, high-quality certified seeds of agricultural crops, strengthening the material and technical base of the needy and seed farms, construction of an agrologistic center in the region, expressed his gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for continuous support, to the representative of the World Bank and to the Head of the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” for continuous cooperation in the development of the agrarian sector.
Afterwards, during the trip, the working delegation visited the cooperative trading farm named after Safar Jumaev in J. Balkhi district and held a meeting with farm managers (project beneficiaries). During the meeting, farmers expressed their gratitude for the continuous support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the World Bank in the development of the agricultural sector and discussed the ways to further increase crop yields with officials.
After the meeting, the World Bank Mission delegation, as planned, visited the farm named after Ergash Sulton and commercial cooperative named after Eshbek Sattor and held a meeting with farm managers (project beneficiaries).
During the meeting there was a conversation with the project beneficiaries, who expressed their opinion on the current problems of the sector (provision of farms with high-quality seeds, especially gourds seeds, construction of all-year-round cold storage facilities and greenhouses, small and large equipment, prevention of salinization of agricultural land).
The farmers expressed their deep gratitude for the support of the Government of the country, the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” and the World Bank Mission.
In conclusion, the World Bank delegation expressed its gratitude for the warm welcome provided by the Khatlon region Government Executive Body and farmers (project beneficiaries).
