Throughout all epochs, it has been a source of national independence and a crucial factor in its formation.

The history of humankind testifies that peoples, nations and countries maintain their stability and resilience precisely through the possession of their own national language. That is to say, every nation language is considered the most important condition for its stability.

The Tajik language is one of the most beautiful and rich languages, holding a worthy place among other world languages. It is the language in which, for millennia, the poets, thinkers, scientists and sages of our past—such as Rudaki and Avicenna, Ferdowsi and Saadi, Hafez and Bedil, Aini and Lahuti, Mirsaid and Tursunzade, Bozor Sobir and Loiq Sherali—as well as other now-living great minds, have spoken, creating their works and inscribing them in history. The native language of every people is the source and foundation of its existence, the most powerful testimony to the viability of any nation. Our Tajik language, having survived the winding path of history, the horrors and oppression of foreign rulers, became the source of the nation’s survival. We, the bearers of this language, are proud of this and will continue to strive to preserve its purity and integrity, and to uphold its spirituality.

The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, esteemed Emomali Rahmon, in his previous Address to the Majlisi Oli of the country, reminded mothers of their mission to preserve the purity and integrity of their native language: “Our women and mothers must, first and foremost, strive to preserve the purity and integrity of the Tajik language, which we commonly call our mother tongue, and teach future generations the manners of communication and speech in this pleasant and poetic language.”

For every speaker of the language, it is a matter of pride that today, in our beloved country, the native language is an object of comprehensive care and support from the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and especially from the great Leader of the Nation. After all, the care and support for the native language is, first and foremost, the support of one’s own people and nation. It is precisely on the initiative of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, esteemed Emomali Rahmon, that our native language – Tajik – is now heard from the podiums of influential international organizations, and the prestige of the Tajik language on the international stage is steadily growing.

Celebrating the Language Day is one of the blessed fruits of Tajikistan National Independence, which, like other ancient national traditions, is observed every year with particular grandeur.

National Independence has not only promoted the distinct identity of the noble Tajik language but has also created the necessary conditions for its development, refinement, expansion and elevation. Particularly unique are the merits and efforts of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the country, esteemed Emomali Rahmon, in preserving the purity and correctness of the national language.

In many of his meetings and addresses, the Head of State, with care and a profound sense of responsibility, speaks about the language purity, preservation of a high culture and provides valuable instructions and directives.

Each of us must also strive to be a worthy master, a careful guardian and a diligent protector of this our national heritage, which is the expresser of our destiny, foundation of our honor and pride, and the bedrock of our nation eternal unity — our native language, the language of the creative people and ancient civilization of beloved Tajikistan.

We must always cherish it as the apple of our eye and constantly strive for its purity and correctness. We must not allow the diminishment of respect for this great language and its pure speech.

So, each of us, while proficient in various foreign languages, must not forget the tender and elegant Tajik language. We must communicate and work in the national (Tajik) language and constantly contribute to its protection and preservation. As the poet said:

“Remember your people and your language,
Rejoice in the spirit of your ancestors.
So that your child may speak in Tajik,
Build your world in the Tajik language.”

On these joyous days, I would like to take the opportunity to sincerely congratulate all of you, dear colleagues, and through you, all the noble people of our country, on the National Language Day.
