Potato cultivation continues at full speed in Khatlon region

Farmers in Khatlon region (project beneficiaries) took advantage of the favorable winter weather and began mass planting of potatoes. It is worth noting that with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” under the implementation of the “Strengthening the Resilience of Agriculture Sector project” provided vulnerable farms of the country with 1400 tons of high-quality potato seeds.

The available potato seeds of the varieties “Picasso”, “Krone”, “Bigrosa”, “Arizona” and “Evolution” are distinguished by their high quality and productivity, are certified, adapted to the climatic conditions of the country and are the first reproduction.

In recent years, farmers in the country have been widely using these varieties, achieving high and desired yields.

Currently, potato planting continues in the cities and districts of Khatlon region, especially in Bokhtar, Kubodiyon, Dusti, Balkhi, Jaykhun, Shakhritus, Vakhsh and other districts, and the project beneficiaries are trying to take advantage of favorable weather conditions and complete the planting of potato seeds as soon as possible.

This year, farmers have focused their attention on increasing land productivity and increasing yields in this important area, striving to increase the area under potatoes and achieve a abundant harvest through the use of high-quality seeds.
