The lands of agricultural research institutions are being improved

One of the goals of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan is to ensure food security in the country and constantly takes the necessary measures to involve unused lands in agricultural circulation and increase the yield of agricultural crops.

This year, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” under the implementation of the “Strengthening the Resilience of Agriculture Sector project ” for full-flow farmland, six vertical wells are planned to be drilled on agricultural research institution lands across the country. Drilling is now complete on two of them, and installation of transformers with cables and equipment is in full swing.

At present, works on water well on the lands of the State Institution of the State Station of Variety Testing and Protection of Agricultural Crops, in B. Gafurov and Istaravshan districts of Sughd province are underway. The installation of reinforced concrete electric poles, installation of transformers, bare aluminum wires, and shielded wires, installation of electric meters, and well pump is in full swing and will be completed in the coming days.

At present, drilling works have been started at four more pumping sites, the industry specialists are determined to complete them as quickly as possible, on time and with high quality, in accordance with the requirements of environmental and social standards, so that the specialists of the State Institution “State Station of Variety Testing and Protection of Crop Varieties” could effectively use the experimental plots this season. It is also reported that the project to provide water to the needy farms of the republic is currently at the stage of feasibility study and cost estimation, and it is expected that construction and rehabilitation works will be carried out this year.
