Visit of an international consultant on digitalization of land mapping

With the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, today various sectors of the national economy, especially agriculture, are gradually developing and achieving significant success.

State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” is constantly taking necessary measures to strengthen the capacity of agriculture in the frame of the «Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project».

This week, within the framework of the third component of the «Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project», an international consultant, Mr. Mehmet Erdogdu, visited Tajikistan.

The purpose of the international consultant’s visit, which held from 13 to 16 January this year, is to assist in the digitalization of the land mapping sector by investing in technical assistance, procurement of necessary equipment, provision of software, and digitalization of land and soil map information.

Initially, an inspection of the current state of laboratories and cartographic direction of the Institute of Soil Science and Agro Chemistry by the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan was carried out, then a working meeting with the management and specialists of the Institute was held.

During the meeting, issues related to current soil mapping practices, technical analysis and capacity of the scientific institution to conduct analyses, development of a capacity building plan for soil mapping, specifications for digitalization of soil maps based on the project requirements, and identification of the necessary equipment for carrying out the work were discussed.
