Second stage of distribution of agricultural machinery and equipment

December 22 this year in CJSC “Agrotekhservice” of Hisor city with the participation of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan Hakimzod Kurbon, Mayor of Gissar city Kosim Rohbar, representative of the World Bank Hazem Ibrahim Hambal, Director of the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” Daler Satori, Director of “Tojikagroleasing” Akramzoda Yusuf, sub-structures of the Ministry of Agriculture, heads of farms and other officials a meeting on the second stage of distribution of agricultural machinery and equipment was held.

It should be noted that on the initiative of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and with the financial support of the World Bank, the State institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” within the framework of Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project implemented the second stage of distribution of small and large machinery and agricultural equipment of various types to seed farms, seedling production farms and infrastructure institutions of the Ministry of Agriculture.

First, the Minister of Agriculture Hakimzoda Kurbon made a speech and noted that ensuring food security of the country’s population largely depends on the development of the agricultural sector, which, among other things, is financed within the framework of sectoral programs and investment projects, and to which direct attention is paid by the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

It should be noted that one of the most reliable partners of our country is the World Bank, which, with grant funding, contributes to a premature response to slowly developing risks in the agricultural sector of Tajikistan and ensuring of food security within the framework of Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project. Using opportunity, we express our gratitude to the World Bank from the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” and are firmly convinced that in the coming years, cooperation and support in the development of the sector will further expand.

In the framework of the Project implementation, the main beneficiaries are farmers, small and large farms, agribusinesses and exporters. They are mainly provided with quality seeds, seedlings and other planting materials. They will also benefit from the services of Agrological Centers, soil analysis, locust control and agrometeorological information.

It should be noted that under the first component of the project, aimed at developing a sustainable seed production system in accordance with international standards, improving the activities of state bodies in the field of seed production, strengthening the material and technical base of seeds and planting materials, special attention was paid to the infrastructure of the Ministry of Agriculture.

It should be noted that at the first stage a number of agricultural machinery was supplied to seed farms, including 20 units of three-furrow plow, 15 units of inter-row rotary cultivator, 13 units of pneumatic planter, 13 units of grain seeder, 4 units of seed and grain cleaning machine, 15 units of potato planter, 15 units of potato harvester, 2 units of land leveler, 4 units of cotton cleaning machine and 4 units of cotton waste press.

At the second stage of distribution, seed farms were provided with 20 tractors, 4 columns, 7 trailers. At the same time, SI “State Commission for Crop Type Testing and Variety Protection” received 9 tractors, SI “Plant Protection and Chemicalization” received 14 tractors and SUE “Tojikniholparvar” received 11 units of large tractors, 13 units of small tractors and 23 units of agricultural machinery and equipment.

At the same time, it is important to note that within the framework of the project Improving the sustainability of agriculture for sowing in 2023 in order to increase the yield of grain crops and on this basis increase its production, 280 tons of elite group wheat seeds were imported as state support, as well as 382 tons of mineral fertilizers were provided to 115 seed farms.

At the expense of available seeds and grown crop, 4468 tons of first reproduction wheat seeds have been accumulated, which is enough for sowing on the area of 20.3 thousand hectares and in future it will be possible to produce more certified seeds.

At the same time, for autumn sowing in 2023, the project procured and delivered to the farms seed wheat of elite group of varieties “Grom” in the amount of 150 tons, “Alekseyich” in the amount of 200 tons, “Timiryazevka 150” in the amount of 150 tons and mineral fertilizers in the amount of 1250 tons.

It should also be noted that under the additional financing of the project it is envisaged to complete a number of activities aimed at achieving the following objectives:

  1. Procurement of crop seeds for vulnerable farms;
  2. Procurement of agricultural machinery for the Tajik Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Tajik Agrarian University named after G. Shahtemur, organizations subordinated to the Ministry of Agriculture, medium and large dehkan farms, as well as farms headed by women, organizations and technical service centers in cities and districts of the republic;
  3. Additional construction for agrological centers;
  4. Development of digitalization of agriculture;
  5. Implementation of irrigation measures, treatment of wastewater systems, establishment of spool irrigation for research institutes of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan, Sh. Shahtemur Agrarian University of Tajikistan, as well as subdivisions of the Ministry of Agriculture;
  6. Construction of innovative greenhouses for reproduction of seeds, seedlings and planting material for seed farms, research institutes of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan, Sh. Shahtemur Tajik Agrarian University. These activities make it possible to produce fresh agricultural products in the fall and winter period.

After the significant speech of the Minister of Agriculture, the representative of the World Bank Hazem Ibrahim Hambal, Chairman of Hisor city Kosim Rohbar and heads of farms expressed their gratitude for the continuous support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in the development of agriculture.

At the end of the event, the keys to the machines and tractors were ceremonially handed over to the project beneficiaries by the Minister of Agriculture and other officials.
