Finalization of the study tour in the Republic of the Philippines
Before the end of the working visit, on December 14 this year, according to the program, the members of the working group visited the Department of Social Welfare and Development and had a working meeting with the head of the department, Mrs. Irish Flor.
During the meeting on the effective operations of the department, Ms. Irish Flor gave a presentation to the audience on monitoring and planning activities related to food packaging such as rice and canned foods, processing and supplying products to vulnerable people affected by natural disasters including tornadoes, floods and other natural disasters.
During the conversation, the head of the office said that almost every year, more than 1.2 million vulnerable households are provided with 10 to 13 types of products, including rice and other food items that are available and packaged in front of the company.
In addition to permanent employees, the department recruits’ volunteers and supports them on an ongoing basis.
Also, during the day, the working group delegation visited the Philippine Ministry of Education and met with the Deputy Minister. During the meeting, he gave information about the support of the Ministry of Education in terms of assistance with fortified foods. He also stated that assistance will be provided to students up to 6th grade. During the conversation, ideas and opinions related to the issue were discussed.
Then the delegation of the working group visited the office of the World Food Program (WFP) and expressed its opinion on the results of the study tour. During the conversation, the head of WFP noted that this organization is ready to help implement its experience in the Republic of Tajikistan. At the end of the meeting, the head of WFP presented certificates to the members of the working group. Thus, the study tour was completed.
