AWARENESS-RAISING ACTIVITIES АND MEETINGS ОN GRIEVANCE MECHANISM АT THE LOCAL LEVEL

State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” under the Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project to ensure transparency of project activities and relations with beneficiaries, establishes a grievance mechanism at local, regional and national levels.

In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On appeals of individuals and legal entities” and the requirements of Article 10, paragraph 10.1 of the official document on environmental and social management, the procedure for consideration of citizens’ appeals on this project provides for the establishment of the commission.

The Commission for consideration of appeals of individuals and legal entities will be established by the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development”, executive bodies of state authorities of RRS, Khatlon region, Sughd region and GBAO.

Also, in accordance with the plan, periodic meetings are held to inform the public about the consideration of appeals and complaints of the involved parties of the population of the specified cities and districts.

On this basis, the public organization “Umedbakhsh” was also engaged to establish a mechanism for handling complaints and appeals, under a contractual agreement with the project. Project staff together with the public organization “Umedbakhsh” and representatives of the executive body of state authorities of cities and districts held 33 meetings, and currently such activities continue in Sughd region.

Meetings started on 07.08.2023 in Khatlon region and were held in 33 cities and districts of the republic, including 9 meetings in cities and districts of republican subordination, 21 in Khatlon region and 3 in GBAO.

Such meetings were attended by 1009 beneficiaries and representatives of executive bodies of state authorities of cities and districts, including 228 women.
